Hi! Thanks for popping by. I’m Katlyn, a woman with a love for global cuisine, an autoimmune disease called Sjögren’s Syndrome, and a passion for healing with food.

In 2022, after several years of health issues, I was finally diagnosed with Sjögren’s Syndrome, an autoimmune disease that affects many different parts of my body, from my eyes and mouth to my joints and skin. I’ve followed Danielle Walker and her cookbooks for many years, but reading Food Saved Me really opened my eyes to how food can help my symptoms.

So I end up doing a lot of research on ingredients from around the world and how they impact meals and health. I’ll never claim an ingredient or plant cures an illness or a symptom, but I will share what I find works for my body or share evidence-based findings.

I don’t eat meat, gluten, eggs, or tomatoes. That doesn’t mean every person with Sjögren’s or another chronic illness needs to follow my food journey. I’ll still share recipes that include those ingredients, but my point is that everyone has different dietary needs. So come explore food with me!

What is this newsletter?

It’s a weekly dive into ingredients, meals, books, resources, recipes, and new ideas to explore — whether you just love food and global ingredients, have a chronic illness, or want to support a loved one who does.

Did you know?

An estimated 129 million people in the United States alone have a chronic illness. There’s around 336 million people in the U.S. That means 1 in 3 people in the U.S. will have some sort of chronic illness. You likely know someone who is fighting something, and maybe this newsletter can provide some insight into daily life, and give hope.
